Sellersburg Steering Committee Meeting #1

The first steering committee meeting was held virtually, using GoToMeeting, on Thursday, April 2, 2020, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. Approximately 14 people attended the meeting, including Town Staff, Town Officials, the consultant team, and steering committee members. The agenda of the meeting included an overview of committee roles, an overview of planning and the process, highlight of existing conditions, and visioning exercises before closing the meeting with homework and next steps. The visioning exercises included four questions; (1) What are the current challenges regarding land use and development for Sellersburg? (2) What are the current challenges related to community facilities? (3) What are the challenges related to identity and character? (4) and What is your big idea? Public Meeting #1 - Virtual Facebook Live Event

Town Manager, Charlie Smith, hosted a live informational session on Facebook about the Town’s effort to update the Comprehensive Plan on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 PM. The purpose of this event was to share information and kick-off community engagement for the Sellersburg Comprehensive Plan. The goal of this plan is to develop long-term goals and strategies for the growth and development of Sellersburg. Online Survey

The online survey was launched on March 23, 2020 on the Town's Facebook page and this website. The survey was open until May 4, 2020. Over 230 people responded to the survey. A summary of the survey will be ready for review shortly.

Steering Committee Meeting #2 Summary

A second steering committee meeting was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 pm. The committee discussed goals, strategies and action steps related to the first guiding principle of the document, establishing a strong foundation. This included plan elements such as Land Use, Transportation, and Community Utilities and Services. A summary of the meeting can be found below.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 pm the third Steering Committee Meeting was held. The committee discussed goals, strategies and action steps related to the second and third guiding principles of the document. These included plan elements such as Community Facilities, Economic Development, Parks and Recreation, Housing and Neighborhoods, and Identity & Placemaking. Public Meeting #2

On Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 4:30-6:30 pm a public open house was held at the Chillers Ice Cream in Sellersburg. The purpose of this meeting was to review and provide comment on the draft vision statement, goals, implementation strategies, and actions for the Comprehensive Plan.

Steering Committee Meeting #4 - August 6, 2020

​The Steering Committee will meet for a final time to discuss the implementation plan and review the draft comprehensive plan. The goal of this meeting is to affirm plan priorities, identify potential partners and resources for implementation, and collect any feedback on the draft plan. The draft plan will be available for public review and comment following this meeting.

Public Hearings

The Sellersburg Plan Commission held a public hearing on October 19, 2020 to hear public comment and make a favorable recommendation for adoption of the Sellersburg 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The Sellersburg City Council adopted the Sellersburg 2040 Comprehensive Plan by resolution on November 9, 2020.
